One of my favourite neighbourhoods in Bangkok is Sukhumvit. Those who know their way around the Thai metropolis may understand why. Sukhumvit has much more to offer than vibrant nightlife. First-timers are usually dazzled by the chic shopping malls, and the high-end rooftop bars quickly go to your head. So it's not at all easy to stay grounded and not miss the real treasures in the area's back alleys.
Yet there is so much to discover in the sois. From small boutiques and fancy shops, cute teahouses and oh so instagrammable coffee shops to relaxing yoga studios. My favourite place to practice yoga around Phrom Phong The Green Room Yoga Bangkok.
Spending time in this calm cocoon will definitely help you feel more down to earth in your daily urban routine.
Fall in love with Bangkok (again and again)
When I first visited The Green Room Yoga Bangkok, I thought it would satisfy the desire to escape the hustling energy of the big metropolis. But surprisingly, it also awakened in me the joy of appreciating city life again. Because this yoga space brings both aspects well together and creates a balance between the urban and the natural.
The studio is flooded with natural light. Lush green plants adds a calming element to the urban backdrop. The setting invites you to let the busyness of city life fade into the distance for a while. Consciously you come back to the natural rhythm while enjoying a yoga session.
You will be welcomed by a warm and welcoming atmosphere that allows you to deepen your practice with full presence and cultivate mindfulness.
Yoga classes and teachers at The Green Room Yoga Bangkok
The Green Room Yoga Bangkok offers a great selection of yoga classes. Including Hatha Flow, Vinyasa Yoga, Yin Yoga and classes for pregnant women. In addition, they regularly host workshops where you can strengthen your nervous system with breath work and ice bathing, for example. For the latest info, check out the studio's Instagram page.
All the yoga teachers create a supportive space for both beginners and advanced yogis and yoginis alike. I really enjoy practicing with Jen, the founder of The Green Room Yoga Bangkok. I felt very connected from the beginning as her yoga journey seems very similar to mine as we both got on the path about 20 years ago.
Jen is very friendly and her creative classes usually combine elements from different yoga styles. She also offers wonderful sound experiences with various gongs and singing bowls. You will return to your everyday life with a feeling of lightness and joy, I promise. I can also recommend to join yoga sessions with Kru Nat or Kru Lena (Kru btw means "teacher" in Thai. So if you visit one of their classes, say ขอบคุณค่ะ ครู (khobkun kaa, Kru = thank you, teacher) at the end.
